Trivia

  • In the manga, he was smoking when he first appeared, while in the anime, he wasn’t.
  • Instead of his Polygon Rifle which he uses in the anime, Wally uses a real hand rifle in the manga.
  • Both Wally and his brother, Richard, seem to have polygon-like bodies as adults, although Wally’s body seems a lot more block-shaped in comparison. And he, also like Richard, had a normal body when young.
  • In the anime, it seems that he has a crush on Millianna.
  • Wally, alongside Shô, was originally set to appear in the Grand Magic Games arc. However, Hiro Mashima eventually dropped the idea due to having too many characters to work with.

History

An Interest for Nasods

Wally was the Lord of Elder. During his rule, he gained an interest in ancient Nasod technology. After discovering various Nasod parts, Wally requested aid from Echo, who supplied him with several documents about Nasods. During his research, Wally encountered Add. With Add’s superior knowledge regarding Nasods, he and Add continued to research Nasod technology. With Add’s help, Wally was able to construct several Nasod units including Wally No.8, 9, 0 among others, and Add even supplied Wally with the blueprints to construct Nasod Inspector.

Wally and Add closed in on discovering the location of an ancient Nasod colony in Altera with the Nasod Queen Eve. With the newfound information, both Wally and Add plotted to back stab each other. Add confronted Wally in his underground laboratory where he was attacked by Wally’s Nasods. Unfortunately for Wally, Add swiftly defeated the Nasod and made off with the information regarding Eve. Afterwards, Wally planned to travel to Altera and began work on his Cargo Airship on the outer rim of Bethma in secret.

Chapter 2: The Chase! Banthus!

Coming to the conclusion that they need to retrieve the power of the El in order to progress their Nasod research, Wally enlists the help of the notorious bandit Banthus. Banthus, having stolen the El, returns to Elder to deliver the shard to Wally. After Banthus was defeated in Banthus Cave, Wally decided to upgrade Banthus with a Nasod prosthetic arm. After Banthus had failed, the El Search Party make their way to Wally’s Castle. Preparing to make his way to Bethma, Wally planned to betray and ditch Add. However, Add catches on and does the same to Wally. With the knowledge of Eve and the Nasods in Altera, after defeating Wally and his Nasods, Add flees Elder. As the El Search Party and the Elder citizens closed in towards Wally, he escaped on top of Wally No.9 and fled towards Bethma.

Chapter 4: Wally’s whereabouts

In Bethma, Wally continued his mining project in Richie Mines to gather supplies and fuel for the trip to Altera. Before the ship could make its way out of Bethma, the El Search Party was able to sneak into the ship along with Toma and sabotaged it from the inside.

Chapter 6: The Floating Island, Altera

The El Search Party, however, tagged along the flight to chase after Wally but the ship was struck down by the Black Crow. When the ship crashed, Wally became trapped under the debris. Barely surviving the crash and in dire need for help, he called out for anybody to aid him. Ain heard his calls and confronts the Lord. Ain refuses to help Wally and in an act of desperation, Wally offers Ain anything, money, fame, and even the position of Lord of Elder. Ain asks Wally where the El Shard was, but unfortunately, Wally is unable to tell him, having lost it during the attack by Raven and the Black Crow. After finding no use for Wally, Ain leaves him for dead.

Biography

Games

Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald

The player first meets Wally at the Petalburg Gym talking to Norman about how to catch his first Pokémon. The player then proceeds to help him catch a Ralts after which he leaves and goes to Verdanturf Town. You next meet Wally at Mauville City in front of the Gym where he is talking to his uncle about challenging his first gym. His uncle is skeptical but Wally insists that he could beat one because he and his Pokémon have grown stronger. Then Wally notices you and asks for a Pokémon battle to prove his skill to his uncle. The last time the player sees Wally is at Victory Road between Ever Grande City and the Pokémon League, and he will have caught and trained more Pokémon and asks for another battle. After losing the battle, he will remain there for the rest of the game.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

Most of the time, the player meets Wally in the same places as in the previous games- Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald. However, instead of evolving into a Gardevoir, the Ralts eventually evolved into a Gallade capable of Mega Evolving since the encounter in Victory Road.

The player also later meets Wally after beating the Pokémon League, in the Delta Episode. Additionally, the player meets Wally in the post-game in the Battle Resort.

Wally is one of the challengers the player can take on in the Battle Tree.

Personality

Wally has a kind, calm, gentle, shy, and passive personality. Unlike most of the other Pokémon game rivals such as Blue, Silver, and Barry, who often taunt the player and love to show off, Wally doesn’t. Instead, he is more shy and cautious with the things he does and is extremely humble. He is frail and sickly, but despite this, he tries to be brave. When he catches his first Pokémon, Ralts, he begins to gain an inner strength and confidence that builds within him throughout the game. Later, he becomes quite the powerful and skilled trainer, who challenges the player just before they exit Victory Road.

History

Wally before being incarcerated in the Tower of Heaven

Wally, and his brother, Richard, lost their parents at a very young age and lived on cultivating potatoes.
Eventually they ended up being slaves at the Tower of Heaven.

Wally and Millianna when they were young

Wally, alongside a couple of kids that were also taken from their home, was forced to build the R-System, also known as the Tower of Heaven. It was there where he met Erza, Millianna, Shô, Simon, and Jellal Fernandes. The group tried to escape a number of times, but their attempts usually failed. One day when the guards were threatening his friends due to Shô’s crying, Erza rose up against them and inspired her friends and the other slaves to do the same. It was in this battle that he witnessed the death of a prisoner he was close to, Rob, and he saw Erza use her Magic Powers for the first time. Eventually, the slaves were victorious and were set to leave the island. While looking through the supplies their captors had, he came across a movie crystal (crystals with movies recorded in them) of a western movie, which he found cool and presumably shaped his obsession with being «Dandy». After Jellal had become controlled by Zeref, he took control of the tower and summons his friends to finish it after kicking Erza out, branding her a traitor when she refuses to go along with Jellal’s wishes. He framed her by blowing up the ship the slaves intended to use to escape and then blaming it on her. Jellal was then able to convince Millianna, Shô, and Simon to continue to help in completing the tower. Eight years later, the group completed it.

Synopsis

Tower of Heaven arc

Wally and his friends appear

Wally appears in a casino where Team Natsu are currently vacationing, introducing himself to Natsu when the latter complains about losing a game and then promptly ambushes him pinning him to the ground and sticking a gun in his mouth. When Simon uses Dark Moment to throw the room in darkness, he shoots Natsu leaving him for dead, then regroups with Millianna, Shô, and Simon to kidnap Erza (as well as Happy which he gives as a present to Millianna, an avid cat lover) and take her back to the Tower of Heaven. Unknown to him however, Natsu survived thanks to his Fire Dragon Slayer Magic.

Wally and Millianna vs Natsu

Later Natsu’s group invade the tower to rescue their friends. Natsu finds Millianna’s room and while fooling around with one of the costumed cat heads, Wally tries to ambush him, only to be stopped by Millianna, as she loves cats and doesn’t want to harm him since Natsu was looking like one. After Wally convinces her that Natsu the enemy, the two double team him and manage to gain the advantage. Just as he about to kill the Dragon Slayer, Happy intervenes and stops Wally. With Happy on the scene, Millianna hampers Wally’s attacks allowing Natsu to knock out both in an instant.

Wally and co escape the tower

Wally manages to recover and tries to continue the fight, but is interrupted by Jellal who announces the Magic Council is planning on destroying the Tower of Heaven with the Etherion. Realizing Jellal’s true intention, Wally is disheartened and confused till Natsu cheers him up before he proceeds for the top floor. Wally faints commenting on Natsu’s scarf looking cool as he watches him go. He later recovers and, at Simon’s insistence, helps move Lucy and Juvia out of the tower. He along with Happy, Gray and Shô and the girls make their escape just before the Etherion fires upon the tower and it. The group can do nothing more but watch from afar as the rest of the event unfolds.

After Erza is saved, and Jellal is defeated, Wally apologizes to Erza for his actions and mourns the loss of Simon. Erza offers them an invitation to Fairy Tail which they consider but they stow away the night they suppose to leave, still ashamed of what they did.

Erza finds this out but doesn’t stop them and allows them to go, but not before giving them a grand send off via fireworks as a way of showing them that they’ll always be friends.

Wally and his friends on Fantasia Parade

Millianna along with Shô and Wally watch Erza’s dance on Fantasia Parade.

Alvarez Empire arc

With the help of Meredy’s Magic, Wally alongside Shô was able to provide his Magic Power to Lucy in order for her to successfully activate Fairy Sphere on Acnologia.
